St Helen's School was founded by May Rowland Brown in 1899. She began to teach at Northwood College, which at the time, refused to take in any students that were connected with trade. Whilst still at Northwood College, a group of local businessmen persuaded her to start another school, and at the age of 25, she founded Northwood High School, later named St Helen's School.

The new St Helen's sports complex was finished in 2004 on the site of the old 33 yard pool. The new sports complex by Steve Parry, Olympic Bronze Medalist. It consists of a 25m swimming pool sports hall and gym.

Training takes place on

Monday 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Wednesday 6:30pm - 7:30pm

Friday 5:30pm - 6:30pm

ALL SWIMMERS SHOULD WEAR GOGGLES AND A SWIMMING HAT.

PLEASE ASK HELEN FOR ESC HATS AND OTHER TEAM CLOTHING.

Entry into ESC Northwood is on the basis of an individual assessment and spaces available.

FEES:

Joining fee for new member: £45.00 to include free ESC hat.

The monthly fees are

1 Swim- £39.00 per month which comprises £25.50 swimming fee and £10.50 membership subscription.
2 Swims - £55.00 per month which comprises £44.50 swimming fee and £10.50 membership subscription.
3 Swims - £63.00 per month which comprises £61.50 swimming fee and £10.50 membership subscription.

On joining, an initial payment is requested to cover the joining fee, the first month of training and your membership subscription. To ease the Club`s administration, members are asked to pay by Direct Debit. Payment by other methods will incur an administration charge of £2 per month. Should you wish to cancel your membership, please email us with 30 days notice so that we can cancel your Direct Debit.

Members should please note that fees are payable for all 12 months of the year although the club will be closed for around seven weeks each year. This is because the cost of running the club are divided into twelve equal installments to make the payment by Direct Debit easier.

As members of Ealing Swimming CluMembers are also required to be registered with Swim England as Category 1 members – (Club Train). This provides club membership and insurance cover. The fee is reviewed on an annual basis and is approximately £25.00 per year. This fee is confirmed and collected on an annual basis.

Please note that for Members who compete, the Swim England Category 2 fee for competition entry – (Club Compete) is payable. This allows for competition entry. The fee for 2025 is £50.00 per year. Swimmers in ESC Northwood have the opportunity of joining the competitive Squad or Water Polo when reaching a good standard of swimming. The Lead Coach will be able to advise on this subject.
